You put the blurry image on the left, click a part of it to demark a selection frame, and click Process. Blurity crunches some numbers, and shows the result on the right half of the window. In a perfect world, this review would end here: You would now be looking at a beautifully sharp version of your previously-blurry photo. In my testing, however, things proved to be more difficult.
The Holy Grail of image processing is the ability to take blurry images and make them usable. Adobe demoed this technology last year and I expect to see it integrated into Photoshop in the near future. In the meantime there is a piece of software called Blurity! that claims to do the same thing, and the examples on their website are impressive enough. When I found out about this software I made a note to do a review of it. Normally I will contact the manufacturer of the software, discuss the features, talk about how to talk about it, and maybe ask for license key if one is needed to fully demo the software out. Also, if a product fails to live up to expectations or has some problems, I will talk to the manufacturer and provide feedback and then discuss posting a review or waiting for an update to address my concerns. This post is going to go into my experience in learning about and trying out Blurity! and what irritated me enough to write an article about it.

Blurity! sells for $49 (on sale for $39 right now). Right off the top this seems like a fairly steep price. Photoshop Elements, which is an extremely robust piece of software, sells for about $69 (Walmart price on day of this writing). A $20 difference in price between a complete, full-featured image organizing and editing tool and a single purpose tool with limited functionality. I would certainly argue that Photoshop Elements has well more than $20 worth of more features. Yes, I understand that Adobe is a huge company that will make their money on volume, but even at $39, Blurity! provides very limited functionality. A minor issue is that Blurity! is only available for purchase with a credit card, there are no options for Google Wallet or PayPal.

Download of Blurity 1.4 for Mac was available from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. The common filename for the program's installer is blurity_1.3.160.dmg.
Thankfully that need not be the case and there are some tools around that claim to be able to refocus your blurred photos and bring them back to something like what the original would look like. Here we look at 7 free and paid image deblurring tools that may just save your treasured photos. The software was tested on Windows 7 but should also work on 8/8.1/Vista and possibly XP.
Another good thing about this program is the changes are previewed live in the window, so after you run it and open an image, simply select the Defect type and start moving the sliders to try and find the best settings to get the sharpness back to the photo. This is also the downside of SmartDeblur free because it can take a lot of time to get the slider settings just right and your image is as sharp and artifact free as possible. Once you have the right settings wait a few seconds for the full final render of the finished result and save the new image.
NOTE: make sure you performance test, especially on mobile. Android devices have relatively crappy CSS performance, especially before Android v5. Blurring a full width background image will affect render speed, so make sure you know the trade offs before applying.
